TBS 5980 USB DVB S2 TV QBox CI

TBS5980 is a digital satellite external TV Tuner box with USB connection for watching and recording digital satellite TV on PC. With integrated CI slot, it can be used for watching Free to Air TV and Pay TV(By inserting the correct CAM and subscription smartcard into the CI slot, encrypted pay TV will be available). Both Windows BDA driver and Linux driver up to the latest kernel are provided. The unique TBS MCE tool makes it possible to read CAM/Smartcard on Windows7 Media Center, thus your satellite subscription TV can be watched/recorded on Windows7 Media Center. On Linux platform, you can also watch paytv by using correct software. TBS5980 is compatible with Windows7 Media Center, MediaPortal, DVBlink, DVBDream, DVBViewer, ProgDVB, Skynet, TSreader, XBMC，MythTV,VDR and many other popular softwares. With use of appropriate software, e.g. MediaPortal and its’ plugins, you may stream satellite TV contents to your IPhone, IPAD or IPOD. The built in hardware blindscan capability allows you to scan satellite programs without knowing exact transponder details, this is especially useful for hunting unknown satellite feeds.

What do I need with the TBS 5980 to watch encryption channels with my hdtv, satellite dish, period.

TBS5980 is PC tuner box. It is for receiving and watching satellite programes on computer. So, if use hdtv, you still need a converter to tranmit audio and video to HDTV from the computer.

The serial number for a sample decoder is DSD-1131-mcm-w7-u205023346x7.

TBS5980 is a USB CI QBox, it is said that as long as you have proper CAM CI module and smart card for the encrypted channels, then the TBS 5980 will work for you. But, one point is important to be notised, TBS 5980 does not support \"turbo\". As we know many dish network channels are in \"turbo\". In the case, TBS 5980 can not support this kind of channels.

The CI slot in TBS5980 is for inserting the CI module. So, besides you have the pay tv card, you still need the appropriate CAM CI Module, like viaccess CAM, conax CAM, and NDS CAM.

Hi, are you able to use the CAM on the 5980 with a TBS 6984 for viewing encrypted content for more that one channel at a time. Also, if you only have a single NLB can you split the feed into the 6984 for multi channel viewing? Thanks

Many thanks for asking about our products. TBS6984 can not use TBS5980\'s CI port to read CAM for encrypted channels. If you want to use TBS6984 to watch several encryted channels, we suggest you using TBS3102 phoenix card reader or Smargo card reader, which you can also buy from our store.
Yes, you can split the feed into TBS6984 for multi channels viewing eventhough you just have one LNB. But one important is the 4 channels from one LNB must be all vertical channels or all horizontal channels. You can not watch 2 vertical channels and 2 horizontal channels from only one LNB.

hi i live in sydney australia i just came accross your site and im really interested in buying one of these boxes so i can use them for my PC and i have a few questions if u can please provide me with the right answer and this satellite signals in australia they use irdeto system broadcasting do u think this DB3 the one ur selling will support it if i hook it up to my dish so i can view channels on my PC and please let me know so i can go ahead and purchase one of these lovely units that you carry and also if u can be kind and guide me which one is perfect for me to purchase and it does have a lot of future and i can use it with a lot of my software ( DVB dream ) and also im using windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. thank you very much.

Many thanks for asking about our products. For your deamanding, I recommend you the item TBS5980, which is USB DVB-S2 CI box. It allows you to insert CAM and smartcard for watching encrypted channels. It is sure to support Irdeto system, and we ever tested it with several kinds of Irdeto CAM and smartcard. But, there are many versions of Irdeto system, I don\'t know which version you use in Australia. I can not 100% promist it is fully compatible it your system.
TBS5980 box is fully compatible with the software DVBdream and windows 7 32-bit and 64 bit. We provide windows 7 driver for it.
