PLP-It’s a technology short for Physical Layer Pipe, it allows the combining of services with different transmission requirements. The configuration includes two Physical Layer Pipes that are combined and transmitted in a single multiplex.

Thailand will adopt the European digital video broadcasting terrestrial 2 (DVB-T2) standard for commercial digital TV service, says the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission.
The change to digital TV will affect all 20 million households in Thailand.

Local broadcasters have been given up to end of June 2012 to switch their broadcasting to digital. The government says by that time the county will be covered with Digital terrestrial signals to facilitate full migration. “By June 30, we could practically switch off the analogue, who ever will still be using analogue transmission will be at a disadvantage,” said the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Information and Communication. DVB-T2 is an abbreviation for Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial; it is the extension of the television standard DVB-T, issued by the consortium DVB, devised for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television.This system transmits compressed digital audio, video, and other data in “physical layer pipes” (PLPs), using OFDM modulation with concatenated channel coding and interleaving.
